Plexus WebStarter 6 CMS Online User Manual

'WebStarter' is Plexus's own home-grown Content Management System (CMS) which we have been developing and incrementally improving over the last 12 years.

WebStarter6 is the latest version, and has been rewritten from the ground up to improve all aspects of how the CMS works, how it uses new technologies to enhance your site's editability and search-engine friendliness, and how the usability has been improved even more to make it as easy to use as we can. We are confident that your WS6-driven web site will be the easiest web publishing tool you've ever used.

The WebStarter6 CMS will let you change the content and images of your site quickly and simply, and from any location where you have Internet access. If you can use a web browser (such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari) and a word processor (like MS Word, Pages or Open Office), then youll find editing your site very straightforward.

Though no two bespoke web sites we develop are the same, this manual covers all of the core editing functions and capabilities. It will walk you through the options one-by-one, and get you up to speed editing your site on a day-to-day basis.

WS6 - Control Freak

Users of previous versions of our CMS will notice immediately on logging in to their admin system that WS6 is different. We have replaced the normal 'Quicklinks' control panel which used to appear at the top right corner of the web site window with a control strip across the top of the window. This provides much easier and more logical access to all of the most commonly used admin features and is, we believe, a major improvement in speed and usability.
 

The new WS6 Control Strip gives access to:

• Edit Pages - clicking on this tab lets you edit your actual site pages, so that you can add text and images to them.
• Site Settings - clicking on this tab lets you edit and manage site-wide settings for things like administrator information, page configuration, page galleries, map location information, adding and deleting pages.
• Manage Images - lets you view and manage the images in your Image Bank, and easily upload more.
• Manage Documents - lets you view and manage the documents in your Document Library and easily add more.
• Site Statistics - lets you use the basic built-in statistics system to monitor visitor traffic, or embed your Google Analytics account code into your site pages if you use that system.
